Adding Extra Storage ;My TR-20 has plenty of storage, but I wanted a "day box" -- a place the keep just the stuff I planned ot use that day. I've seen several Tritons that came with a drop in tray that fits in the top of the cooler. Unfortunately, mine didn't come with this feature.
I decided to do something about it. I measured the opening for the cooler - it was 7" wide. I went to our local Dollar Tree store to see what they had - I found some baking pans that were just the right size, and they were only $1 each!.
I dropped one in and it fit like a glove -- EXCEPT that the lid wouldn't close all the way. Turns out that the latch was hitting the bottom of the pan. I fixed this by modifying the latch, which I never used anyway.
I dropped the pan in and closed the lid - the fit as still not quite right! It seems the rolled edge of the pan was just a bit too thick to let the cooler close properly. A quick trip to the vise flattened the edge and voila! We're in like a fat rat in a cheese factory! My day box was a reality.
I'd bought two of the baking pans, so I tried to figure out how to use the other one. I thought of the drop-in trays for the rear compartments that I'd recently bought. They have the holders for pork rind trailers, which I don't use.
I set the left over pan on top of the area at left and it fit like a glove, except the handles on the pan took up a lot of space. A short effort with a pair of pliers and a ball peen hammer solved that in short order. I roughed up the plastic with sandpaper and attached the pan with black RTV Silicone Sealer. This is the final result.
